MOCAP - 23 September 09

This project involved a series of motion capture animations captured at Weta Studios and played back on the UMAJIN real time engine.

The critical part was some simply amazing work by Kate Venables, the motion capture artist, in bringing the characters to life.

In this image you can see Kate wearing a suit with passive infrared dots. These are tracked by 70 'giant' cameras. She is also using short crutches to make the quadruped motions appear more realistic. Scattered around the room were numerous screens and projection walls where we could watch the real time feedback.

Check out Kate's motion capture music video. Pass the link on!

Cheers
