Paper Pots - 5 March 09

This is a surprisingly easy way to create your own biodegradable planting pots out of junkmail.

Essentially a short length of PVC pipe is used as a guide to fold the base of a strip of junkmail, making a paper pot. Plywood discs are used to act as a mould to twist the paper against.

So to make a pot, wrap a strip of paper around the pipe. Leave an amount off the end, and fold this over. Then press that excess against the plywood disc to mould the base.

Now remove the pot off the pipe, fill with soil / compost and plant your seeds.

Now they are ready to plant out - if you want you can even leave it in the pot!.
