Pumping Station One : hackerspace in Chicago!

Jeff, Dan and Nathan showed me around the quickly evolving space.

The impressive loft and beneath it the workshop. This was completed in one weekend!

Jeff shows me how they modeled the layout in sketchup before begining the physical transformations.

Dan shows me some of the donated and second hand equipment ready to be used for new and unique purposes.

One of the potenitally unique features of this space is the number of software and web engineers who plan on hacking away. These are a range of reclaimed servers being setup for hosting sites and files.

It's amazing how quickly they have gone from looking for space - to up and running in a physical building. Some sage advice from the team was to keep hunting until you find the right location and the right landlord as things go much more smoothly!
